LJ Hooker is Australia and New Zealand's largest real estate franchise organisation with over 700 offices in Australia and New Zealand. The real estate industry has been an early adopter of the Internet and has been displaying properties for sale or lease online for many years.
Challenge
LJ Hooker required a fresh, up to date redesign of their website that would encourage more people to visit LJ Hooker and use them for all their real estate needs. LJ Hooker online had been losing ground to treal estate aggregators such as real estate.com.au and domain.com.au and wished to maintain their excellent brand recognition offline into online success.
Project
enflexion was engaged by LJ Hooker to evaulate the online real estate market and then craete a strategic road map for where LJ Hooker should be and how they could exceed their user's expectations. enflexion was then asked to design an entirely new wesbite that would be:
In reviewing LJ Hookers current website and interviewing a cross sectionof their users's, enflexion was able to categorise the types of users and their information needs. Using this engflexion proposed a totally new site architecure which comprised a new main menu and sub menu structure. To create a consistency between all pages and sections of the site, enflexion then designed generic templates for each of the sections.
The new LJ Hooker Portal was launched in February 2003 and within a few short weeks the user statistics started to grow significantly. The average number of properties that each person viewed increased by 15% while the average time people stayed on the site (called site stickiness) increased by 25% or in real terms an increase of two minutes.
